Community Rights Ordinances...US Map...by State...Timeline

We are tremendously excited to announce the launch of our new comprehensive database of Community Rights ordinances that have been passed since 1999 – in about 200 communities and counties in twelve states and climbing.

You can access the database alphabetically by state, chronologically, or via US map. All options can be accessed in the box to the right of this text –>.

In the weeks and months that follow, we will be adding additional databases that cover other ordinance categories, such as:
* ordinances that have been unsuccessful thus far in being passed, &
* ordinances that were passed into law and then challenged in a variety of ways and then undone, &
* ordinance campaigns that are still at an earlier stage of organizing.

Two of our hardest working team members – Eva Hamilton and Orenda Maitri – have put in countless hours over 18 months constructing this comprehensive database. Thank you Eva and Orenda!

Whenever possible, we have provided active links to the full text of the ordinance, contact info for the local group that ran the campaign, and much more. But as you will see, this database is very much still a work in progress. So if you are personally familiar with any of these ordinances, or can offer corrections or updates, please do by emailing us HERE.

In addition, you can click HERE to view a comprehensive list of ordinance topics that have been drafted to date. Some of them have already become law in at least one local jurisdiction in the country. Others are just waiting for a ripe community to dive in and join our movement.
