what’s happening?

Ten years ago, the Ecuadorian people adopted the first in the world constitution that recognized the Rights of Nature to exist, flourish, and regenerate. CELDF assisted in the drafting of the language.

Since then, Rights of Nature has grown across the U.S. and around the world, including New Zealand, Colombia, and India.

In celebration, commemoration, and looking ahead to the continued growth of Rights of Nature, speakers from around the world are gathering in Quito, Ecuador – including CELDF’s associate director and leader of our International Center for the Rights of Nature, Mari Margil.
