Citizens behind the initiative known as the Lake Erie Bill of Rights are calling upon Toledo City Council to do for them what it did for the Keep the Jail Downtown Toledo group, and send their proposal back to the Lucas County Board of Elections for reconsideration.

At a news conference Thursday inside One Government Center, members of Toledoans for Safe Water agreed the issues keeping the Lake Erie Bill of Rights proposal off the Nov. 6 ballot are so similar they warrant another try. The group is asking for the city council to pass an emergency ordinance and is asking for support from Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.
