People, like myself, Curt Hubatch, Community Rights US (CRUS) Media Team member have experienced coaching with Ingrid Martine as a life-changing experience. I can honestly say that I would never have organized Community Rights talks and workshops in the community that I live and work in without her coaching. In fact, she followed me into Community Rights. I introduced this rights-based organizing strategy to her, and not long after she flew out to Bucks County, Pennsylvania from her home state of Texas to participate in the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund’s (CELDF) Democracy School. And afterwards she’s been doing some CR organizing in her community in Texas. So please consider the offer below. Then contact Coach Ingrid Martine (HERE), PCC.
People who deeply understand Community Rights know a sobering fact: to assert we the people’s rights, we need to be able to influence others to get off the corporations’ playing field. While it’s a fact that the Community Rights movement has invented a new game on a new playing field outside of the box of our current allowable options, we need to become ever more competent players and expand our skills to enroll more and more people to play the new game on the new playing field.
In the old game the almighty corporation wants us to believe that we can stop this bad thing on the old playing field, namely in the regulatory arena. If you’re reading this, you know that’s not true. We can, if we’re lucky, mitigate harm, not legally stop it. Eventually, if not right away, the corporation wins on its playing field. Community Rights experts know this, of course. They also know that the new game works in we the people’s favor when we have new skills in the domain of conflict. We need new skills in how we deal with conflict in ALL our affairs—with ourselves, our family, and in our community. If you think about it, you’ll agree that our present ways of dealing with conflict (pleading, avoiding, placating, bullying, etc.) work poorly.
Take a look and consider strongly the Mastering Conflict Practice Coaching Group that starts September 25. We can accommodate 4 more participants. CR folks will receive an additional discount. Activists who participated in the first group will be glad to talk to you about how the coaching has changed their public presentations and conversations with county commissioners, city council members and other key players. Like CR, mastering conflict is not for the faint of heart. It’s for brave people who are eager to learn and who are open to a fact that scares a good many of us: WE ARE MUCH MORE POWERFUL THAN WE THINK!
