Brief Commentary about by Community Rights US Media Team member Curt Hubatch: This is Derrick Jensen’s 6th Resistance Radio interview with Thomas Linzey going back to October 20th, 2013. Being a part-time rural letter carrier I’ve had the opportunity to listen to all of these interviews a number of times. And out of all the things a person can listen to while delivering mail 5 to 6 hours a day one might wonder why I chose to spend part of my time listening to these particular interviews over and over again. Well, one is I’m a big fan of Derrick Jensen in general. His writing and interviewing style is compelling to me. And secondly, it goes back to a comment I heard Richard Grossman — one of late, great thinkers that helped kicked off the Community Rights movement back in the late 80’s — make in a speech recorded and broadcast by Alternative Radio. To paraphrase, he said it was our duty and constitutional responsibility as citizens of the United States to rein in corporate power. In the theory of the United States corporations are not suppose to have governing authority at any level of government, especially in the places we live. But, as we see, they clearly do. Grossman compared corporate power to a cancer in the body politic, and it was up to us to cut it out if future generations were going to have a planet to live on. And I can’t think of a more qualified person to do that in the domain of law and culture than Thomas Linzey. This interview, along with the rest of them, will give the listener more than enough information on how to re-imagine government and steer it in the direction of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of We The People, and not the interests of various corporate boards of directors from around the world.
